• Project Director/Lead Facilitator, Play to Learn

KLRU-TV, Austin PBS, is seeking a full-time Project Director and Lead Facilitator responsible for overseeing implementation of the Play to Learn (PTL) family outreach workshop series. Play to Learn is a 10-session workshop for a parent/caretaker and a child age 2-4 years old in which together, they discover ways to incorporate activities into their daily lives that promote school readiness, healthy interactions, smart uses of digital media, and fun. The Project Director and Lead Facilitator ensures that our PTL work is carried out with fidelity to the curriculum, to the specifications as required by different funding sources, and in a collaborative spirit with other City of Austin Ready Families Collaborative and United Way Success by Six partner agencies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Facilitate KLRU staff and operations in fulfilling contractual obligations of the City of Austin Ready Families Collaborative Play to Learn Workshops and of additional Play to Learn contracts as they arise.
Collect and report data related to Play to Learn work, including but not limited to financial records, client intake information, client performance data, distribution of resources, and continued communications with PTL participants beyond the workshop series. Keep said data in a secure but easily accessible location for periodic reference by KLRU staff and/or audits by outside agencies (City of Austin, Any Baby Can, etc.)
Deliver the PTL workshop series with fidelity to the curriculum and in ways that are responsive to clients' needs and interests.
Coordinate PTL client recruitment and site location efforts.
Manage KLRU PTL supplies and inventory, determine and record PTL purchases
Attend required meetings of KLRU staff, KLRU Educational Services team, and Play to Learn related convenings outside of KLRU, including United Way Success by Six convenings and Any Baby Can (the fiscal agent for RFC) meetings.
Participate in KLRU Educational Service team activities and large-scale events.

Knowledge and Skills required:
Bilingual Spanish and English speaker, strong preference for Spanish literacy. Additional
languages and literacies welcome.
Moderate facility with technology - ability to use and troubleshoot office suite applications, Internet navigation, data reporting apps, financial spreadsheets
Strength in using social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.), particularly in ways that will captivate PTL adult clients.
Strong, friendly presence as a workshop facilitator
Ability to tactfully address client behaviors or dispositions that run counter to PTL aims for happy, healthy, school-ready children.
Awareness of the academic and societal challenges that low-income, minority, and immigrant youth and their families face vis-à-vis public school systems, and public policies that shape their schooling experiences, .
Maintenance of ongoing qualitative, quantitative, and financial records needed for reporting and disbursements
Collaborative spirit for joint work within KLRU Educational Services, KLRU station activities, and with outside agencies and collaborators

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise staff assigned by Educational Services Director to assist in Play to Learn
implementation, including Substitute and Assistant Facilitators.

Education Requirements:
Bachelors degree required.
