• Development Associate, Major Gifts

KLRU, Austin's PBS station, seeks a Development Associate to support the Senior Vice President and other donor relationship managers around major gifts fundraising. The Development Associate will oversee administrative processes specific to individual major donors, and will assist with both annual goals and a special-purpose campaign set to launch within the next year. This position reports to the Senior Vice President for Development, performing other duties as assigned to support other solicitors and senior staff. This position will also work closely with KLRUs database team to manage portfolios/pipelines and ensure integrity of donor records. The Development Associate will interface directly with Board members and major donors, and will occasionally attend events and meetings outside of normal business hours.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Data entry: Use Raisers Edge NXT to document donor visits, enter follow-up steps, monitor dashboards, create reports, and update records according to KLRU policies and procedures
Prospect research: Conduct prospect research using Raisers Edge/Blackbaud products, online tools, and other research strategies
Major gifts support: Prepare SVP and other solicitors for donor visits, working independently to pull necessary reports, meeting details, and background information, including basic details of KLRU/PBS history and activities as appropriate
Tracking deliverables/deadlines: Track gift agreements to ensure timely, accurate fulfillment of donor recognition and benefits; keep senior staff informed of all activity and deadlines
Correspondence: Communicate on behalf of the Senior Vice President as appropriate; provide excellent customer service directly to donors/board members
Writing: Assist SVP in preparing reports, presentations, and meeting materials
Meetings/Events support: Take minutes, draft agendas, print materials, make reservations/book rooms, manage calendars and scheduling tools, coordinate catering, occasionally arrange travel, assist with donor events as needed


Knowledge and Skills required:
Minimum 2-3 years of work experience in a development/fundraising role for a nonprofit organization or political campaign. (A relevant degree/certification or significant volunteer experience may be an appropriate substitute for paid work.)
Working knowledge of nonprofit fundraising methods, professional roles, and best practices in a large development team.
Willingness to commit to and follow principles in AFPs Donor Bill of Rights, including excellent judgment and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
Comfort working with data, learning new software, and following data entry conventions.
Ability to support the activity of multiple team members, independently prioritize a heavy workload, and at times work under pressure and deadlines.
Strong communications skills and ability to interact professionally with high-net-worth individuals (over the phone, via email, and in person).
Ability to occasionally work outside of normal business hours and in locations outside of KLRUs offices.

Knowledge and Skills preferred:
Strong working knowledge of Raisers Edge or similar CRM database software.
Familiarity with the concept of moves management, in either a fundraising or sales context.
Ability to learn and synthesize information from different sources, including donor interests/intent, major station initiatives, and data/research.
Comfort with managing up, supporting senior staff with information they need to be successful in public-facing roles.
Strong writing skills.
