• Marketing/Design/Generalist (Entry Level or Retainer, Home Improvement Sector)

On behalf of Domain Industries (Kitchen and Bath sector), Im looking for an entry level designer/generalist for a marketing role.
This will not be an easy gig...you're going to do everything...just like a startup...except the toilets work, people are nice, and the office has never been surrounded by a SWAT team. So basically, a startup without the baggage.

I will (only) respond to folks who provide a working portfolio link. I also want a recommendation from one of your design/marketing professors.

If you're a seasoned pro, I'm open to a ~10 hour/week retainer.

You must understand the basics of Indesign/Web/Print/Invision/Trello/Sketch/Slack/and etc.
Basically, its the same skillset that most folks are required to knowwith an entry-level ad agency role.

Crucial, If you've never worked with Indesign, this gig is not for you.
From day one, you'll be working with Indesign.

The below three traits trump initial experience.
- Learns quickly, independently, and proactively
- A strong design aesthetic
- Positive mental attitude (and work ethic) under stress
- Humble. If you already know everything, wait a couple months before the reveal.

EXPECTATIONS (for entry level)

I would expect this person to stay a yearÂ…and move on (with relevant professional experience) to an ad agencysuch as GSD&M.
If straight out of college, you'll be overworked and (probably) overwhelmed.
Wherever frontiers you cross, you're the cosmonaut.
You'll be expected to solve problemsas they happen.
On a positive note, you'll be able to try, fail, and (eventually) succeed in a helpful/collaborative environment.

*** This gig is 95% design ***
You'll learn a pile of other stuff--as much as you can absorb. Sketch, Slack, Jupyter, Ecommerce, Email Marketing, Javascript, Fabrication basics, Statistics, Copywriting, Python, Responsive Design, and many more.
100%, a strong design aesthetic is crucial.

The pay is commensurate with an entry level agency design role. Will be a living/learning/dues-paying wage. At $40k, you must be frugal.

Depending on the person, you might have some leeway on being remote. You must be local to the Austin areacapable of getting to Domain with a reliable vehicle.

At present, Domain is going through quite a few upgrades and growing pains. The marketing (and sales department) is being rebuiltsimultaneously.

Myself, I will be bringing this entry-level up to speed with a pre-existing (print and web) project.
As background, my past clientele has included Microsoft, Sony, X-Games, Toyota, Adidas, Pepsi, and etc. I will not be (at Domain) on a daily basis.

The other consultant is a ex-head of Fergusona billion+ dollar plumbing wholesale company.
Together, we're getting Domain up to speed.

Perhaps, you're interested in a challenge? If so, you've hit paydirt. Reach out (with a portfolio link) and good hunting.
